Rug Size Guide

1. Living Room

  • Small: 5x8 ft (150x240 cm) → Fits under a coffee table with front legs of sofa on rug.

  • Medium: 6x9 ft (180x270 cm) → Good for small to medium living rooms; anchors main furniture pieces.

  • Large: 8x10 ft (240x300 cm) → All main furniture fits fully on rug.

  • Extra Large: 9x12 ft (270x365 cm) → Ideal for spacious rooms; creates a unified look.

2. Dining Room

  • 6x9 ft → Fits 4–6 chairs; chairs stay on rug when pulled out.

  • 8x10 ft → Fits 6–8 chairs comfortably.

  • 9x12 ft → Fits large dining tables with 8–10 chairs.

Tip: Leave at least 24 inches (60 cm) of rug around the table so chairs stay on the rug when pulled back.

3. Bedroom

  • Full / Queen Bed:

    • 6x9 ft → Placed horizontally, fits under bed + nightstands partially.

    • 8x10 ft → Fits under entire bed with nightstands.

  • King Bed:

    • 8x10 ft → Fits under bed, extends beyond foot of bed.

    • 9x12 ft → Covers entire bed area and nightstands.

Small Bedroom Rugs:

  • 3x5 ft or 4x6 ft → Beside the bed for a soft landing.

4. Hallway / Entryway

  • Runner Rugs:

    • Common sizes: 2x6 ft, 2.5x8 ft, 3x10 ft.

    • Choose length that leaves 4–6 inches (10–15 cm) space from walls.

5. Rug Placement Tips

  • Leave 8–12 inches (20–30 cm) of floor space around the rug for balance.

  • In open-plan spaces, use large rugs to define zones.

  • For layering, place a smaller patterned rug on top of a larger neutral rug.
